Aaliyah Dana Haughton exploded into fame in 1994 after she released her debut Album Age Ain't Nothing More Than a Number. The album came out as Gold when she was just 15 years old. The album was a collaboration that was highly influenced by R. Kelly and it placed her in the spotlight. In 1996 she worked alongside Jermaine Dupri as well as Timbaland for her second album One In A Million which featured the hit number one single If Your Girl Could Only Know. Aaliyah was a well-known R&B singer after the album's release. Aaliyah appeared alongside legendary martial artist Jet-Li in Romeo Must Die (2000) the action and romance film. Joel Silver, a film producer at an awards show when she got the role and spotted her. The year 2002 was the time she appeared as part of the Anne Rice-based movie about horror Queen of the Damned. The Matrix Sequels was her first appearance in The Matrix Sequels. She had also appeared on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2007). She was born in Connecticut to a family of Indian origin. Mann the stage name is an abbreviation for Mankad her surname when she married. Aarti Magnumdar is her official name, but she also uses Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. While she started out with minor TV and film performances, her acting career picked up growth in the latter half of 2000s. Her other notable projects include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. In addition, she has appeared in commercials of major brands like international car manufacturer Volvo. She currently lives at Los Angeles along with her wife, son and daughter. She also pursues her acting career.
