Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine has a unique style that blends R&B with gospel, soul music and R&B. From Broadway to European music festivals and clubs the singer has done work everywhere. Sunshine was born Denise White. While she is living in Atlanta now, Sunshine is originally from Chester Pennsylvania. In Chester Pennsylvania she started out as a musician by singing and playing in the local church. She went to Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her musical apprenticeship in Atlanta's R&B scene. In 2005 she was hired to be the main keyboardist for Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. In 2007 Grammy as well as Tony Awards-winning singer Jennifer Holliday sought her out to be the director of choral in the production staged by Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine was recognized nationally during her four daily performances in 2008 at the Democratic National Convention. She was later invited to sing during President Obama's 2008 inauguration.
